Drop by throughout the day and checkout his progress and get an autographed poster! Don't forget to stop back by and see the finished artwork!

We caught up with Drew this week for an interview about his lifestyle and the live painting! Check out the interview below and check out his website!

How would you describe the relationship between art and music in your life?
I don’t think I could paint without music. It’s crucial to my painting process. I listen to the same album while I work on a piece. I zone out with my headphones, allowing me to stay focused and inspired. If the painting takes days to complete, I play that same album day after day; it brings me right back to where I left off, keeping the flow and energy of the painting.

What is your favorite type of music to listen to while doing your artwork? Do different types of music inspire your artwork in different ways?
It depends on the piece. I really like heavy metal like Iron Maiden or Pantera; it allows me to paint fast. Led Zeppelin is always in the mix somewhere. If I’m not in a rush to paint I’ll listen to Reggae or Jack Johnson. I even like Jai Uttal; really it’s always something different.

Music inspires my work for sure. If I’m listening to something heavy and angry, the painting reflects that mood. If I’m listening to Reggae, the painting takes on a happy feel, beach lifestyle.

Back in the early days when I painted tons of surfboards I would listen to Sepultura. That was the gnarliest, most aggressive paintings I have ever done.

Can you give us any hints/previews of what to expect from the live show at the NAMM tradeshow next week?
I’ll be tricking out a few pairs of headphones and showing people how it’s done. I’m also stoked to be painting on a Fender guitar, showing people at the show that anything can be easily customized.

I’ll be giving away some of my posters for people who come to the Aerial 7 booth #7007.

If you had to sum up your lifestyle in a word or phrase, what would it be?
I get to surf, create art and listen to music all day. I would say “I’m living the dream.”
